Cinema Akil To Reopen This Friday

For many of us, a special night out with friends is long overdue – and we’re not talking your basic dinner and a movie. Fortunately, one of the UAE’s most notable arthouse cinemas will be reopening its doors this week and welcoming guests back inside its plush, red velvet interior.

Cinema Akil will be reopening its doors on June 12 and welcoming guests back with an inaugural screening of Michael Winterbottom’s The Trip to Greece. The theatre plans on screening one film every night from Tuesdays through to Saturdays between the hours of 18:00 – 21:00.

Located in Al Quoz, the cinema has been redesigned to offer a safe viewing experience for all guests. All screenings will be held at 30% capacity and theatre seats will be spaced 2 meters apart, in order to adhere to proper social distancing rules and regulations.

A sanitization programme will be put into effect and face masks will be mandatory for both visitors and staff members, along with temperature checks before entering the vicinity.

Feel like treating yourself to some refreshments while enjoying an indie flick? Project Chaiwala, located inside Cinema Akil, will also be fully operational. The karak chai café will be accepting contactless payments from 13:00 – 21:00.

Tickets are available online only for purchase and the full film programme can be seen on cinemaakil.com/calendar
