Why We Can’t Stop Watching Emily in Paris
Best described as Sex and The City meets Gossip Girl (with a hint of Bridget Jones), this new Netflix Original will keep you glued to your screens
Move over Carrie Bradshaw and Blair Waldorf, a new binge-worthy series has just dropped on Netflix: Emily in Paris.
Lily Collins is Emily Cooper, the series’s leading lady, as she stars in the role of an American marketing executive who has the unexpected opportunity to take a job in Paris.
Knowing little to no French and having her only companion be her English-to-French translating app, Emily braves the sea of disgruntled shopkeepers, difficult co-workers and the loneliness to live her dream and start a killer Instagram account.Â
However, fear not for her story soon picks up. As expected, Emily is met with numerous French men who are interested in the eccentric, optimistic and rare American with the fan-favourite being (and Emily’s favourite, dare I say) Gabriel played by Lucas Bravo, the swoon-worthy chef who just happens to live one floor below Emily. And with a wardrobe created by award-winning costume designer Patricia Field (who was also responsible for the amazing outfits in Sex and The City), what could possibly go wrong?

But of course, no love story is complete without its own plot twists; and believe you me, you won’t see this one coming.
Don’t worry though! It’s not all about Emily’s bad luck with meeting people—she makes two lovely friends pretty early on, Mindy, a nanny from Shanghai who is actually super-rich and has the most chaotic yet supportive energy, and Camille, the graceful yet incredibly sophisticated girl who swooped in to save Emily from a bad purchase because of her poor French!
I will be binge watching #EmilyInParis tonight and then I’ll binge watch it a hundred more times because Lily Collins supremacy.
What an ICON. Lily deserves all the hype, love & praise in the world. pic.twitter.com/2f6P3rBvir
