Amidst this crowd of A-list celebrities, one not-so-well-known name stood out from the crowd: Mona Patel. The Indian fashion sensation and entrepreneur wowed attendees and viewers a like, going viral, for her breathtaking mechanical butterfly dress.

Who is Mona Patel?

As a native of Vadodara, Gujarat, Mona Patel has truly made a name for herself as a prominent figure in the business and fashion world. After pursuing higher education at Rutgers University, United States, she established herself as an entrepreneur, founding anm impressive eight successful companies across various industries, including healthcare, technology, and real estate. Her success has been seen through her widespread acclaim, including recognition from Forbes who highlighted her as a Forbes Next 1000 Honoree. They also featured her on their inaugural list of 250 inspiring entrepreneurs in 2021.

She champions women-centric business initiatives

Mona Patel is also an inspiring advocate for philanthropy. Through initiatives such as Couture For Cause, a non-profit organisation that merges fashion with philanthropy, Mona aims to uplift and inspire the next generation of young girls. She is also the founder of Haute Mindset, a community motivated to empowering female entrepreneurs of colour.

For her grand debut at the Met Gala, Patel opted for a show-stopping ethereal ensemble coordinated by stylist Law Roach, and designed by Iris Van Herpen. The dress, a masterpiece of haute couture, featured a nude floor-length sculpted gown adorned with a golden butterfly-shaped corset and a scalloped train. What set Patel’s attire apart, however, was the incorporation of mechanical elements that caused butterfly wings to flutter as she walked, adding a touch of enchantment and magic to her look.
