As another month of catwalk shows kicks off, the trend spotting for the new season begins, and if New York Fashion Week is anything to go by, we will be wearing plenty of colour come spring/summer 2020. While lime green and lemon yellows have been making appearances, bold and bright blue seems to have crept its way into more than a few collections, suggesting that it might just be the colour of the new season.

From suiting at Prabal Gurung to shiny shorts at Staud and summer dressing at Jonathan Simkhai, here is all the bright blue inspiration you need for the year ahead – plus, our favourite pieces that are available to shop now.

This asymmetric dress from Balenciaga will be a real year-round winner. The loose fit makes it easy to wear when warm, but the velvet fabric gives it a wintery edge.
