Written In The Stars: Chanel’s Newest High Jewellery Collections Turns To The Heavens
Chanel’s latest high jewellery collection, Reach For The Stars, takes its inspiration from the heavens above, played out in dazzling diamonds and vivid coloured gems…
Chanel’s Aim For The Stars ring is a dazzling homage to house founder Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s enduring fascination with the cosmos. Crafted in platinum and pink gold, its swirling silhouette echoes a comet crossing a twilight sky, and is punctuated with diamonds, yellow and pink sapphires, spessartite garnets and akoya pearls. Like any of the maison’s high jewellery creations, it speaks to Gabrielle’s design ethos – the dynamic design sweeps boldly across the hand; a nod to the freedom of movement that characterised Mademoiselle Chanel’s style.

Continuing the celestial theme, the strong as a lion parure draws inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s Leo star sign, pairing a double-finger ring with matching earrings. Crafted in white and yellow gold, the ring showcases a sculptural lion’s head, encircled by yellow and white diamonds radiating outward, anchored by a five-point star set with a three carat Fancy Vivid Yellow brilliant-cut. The earrings echo this motif: each lion’s head is deftly sculpted and bears sensational diamond drops. Together, the pair nod to the strength and intuition that coco Chanel associated with her astrological sign.

Continuing the celestial narrative, the collection’s be the one necklace and take my breath away earrings bring the house’s cosmic motifs into new focus. The necklace centres on a lion’s head framed by a halo of pure scintillation, finished with a wondrous pear shape diamond. Its chain, scattered with diamond-set stars, offsets the bold central motif, echoing coco’s deft skill for creating balance in any silhouette. The earrings provide a striking counterpoint, combining pink gold with black-coated gold – introduced here for the first time – where woven matte-finish chains meet lace-like diamond settings.

For its founding femme, Chanel’s comet motif was a potent emblem. A trailblazer of her time, its dynamism reflects her determination and grace in equal measure. Translated into an enchanting piece to perch upon the finger, the five stars ring fans out into a trail of brilliant white diamonds and vivid garnets, evoking a fiery tail, while another band features a gleaming five-point star, brimming with orange garnets. The open design and asymmetry lend the piece a sense of lightness and movement, hovering above the hand like a glittering galaxy.

As a glittering finale, Chanel’s blazing star earrings and transformable necklace are further tributes to mademoiselle Chanel’s reverence for shooting stars. Reimagining their energy and geometry, the earrings showcase two brilliant-cut diamonds weighing one carat each, with jet-black onyx adding contrast and edge.

The necklace mirrors this bold aesthetic – its focal point is a 1.5 carat brilliant-cut diamond framed by rays of diamonds and onyx. The comet’s sparkling tail is conjured from diamond-set strands, which can be ingeniously detached and worn as a bracelet – a tribute to Gabrielle’s flair for innovation, and an imagination where the sky is the limit.
