Chanel Partners Up With Barbie For The Ultimate Barbie-Inspired Looks
Bazaar Arabia shares a look at Chanel’s collaboration with the Barbie movie…
The premiere of the Barbie movie is coming to the Middle East today and in honour of its highly-anticipated release, Chanel has partnered up with Barbie, sharing a capsule of their classic designs inspired by all things Barbie.
In the creation of the film by the renowned director and writer Greta Gerwig, Chanel’s designer Virginie Viard worked alongside Oscar-winning costume designer Jaqueline Durran to dress the actors in the most-fitting head-to-toe Barbie-inspired Chanel attire. Five outfits from a selection of the Coco Neige and Coco Beach ready-to-wear collections by Chanel are featured during Barbie’s journey. Among the spotted attire can be found three suites and a dress, all worn by Barbie, played by starring actress Margot Robbie, as well as a ski suit worn by Ken, played by starring actor Ryan Gosling.
“Chanel has so many options when it comes to accessories, so it helped get into character, it felt right for the character,” said Margot.

“I thought it would be exciting to do something like this with Greta Gerwig, who I think not only has the ability to honour a 60-plus-year legacy of the brand but also has a cultural conversation at the same time,” said Margot.

Not only did Robbie wear Chanel during the film, but she also sported the classic tweed set, along with various signature Chanel looks that embodied Barbie during her headlining press tour.
“Wearing high fashion definitely feels right for the character,” said Robbie.
The Barbie movie airs in theaters in the Middle East on August 10, 2023.
