Dior Designs Costumes For Ballet At The Dubai Opera
The French fashion house is bringing the renowned ballet troupe’s dances to life through their impeccable designs
Over the weekend, the esteemed Rome Opera Ballet performed in the UAE for the first time with two captivating performances of Nuit Romaine and Nuit Dansée at the Dubai Opera.
The exquisite productions were an enthralling fusion of fashion and dance, featuring costumes designed by the House of Dior.
Known for her love for performance art, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri collaborated with principal dancer Eleonora Abbagnato to craft a collection of haute couture costumes. Alongside skilled artisans from the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma ateliers, the designs showcased signature Dior sensibilities, including intricate beading, hand pleating, encrusted lace, and ethereal draping.
This isn’t the first time the luxury French fashion label has immersed into the world of theatre. In 2020, Dior offered a series of online ballet lessons and workshops, led by principal dancers and choreographers from Paris Ballet Opera and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, which aimed to “awaken senses lulled by lockdown.”
Previously, during Maria Grazia’s tenure at Valentino alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli, the pair worked with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma to design costumes for an opera rendition of the film La Traviata, directed by Sofia Coppola.
