Created exclusively for Torino Fashion Week, Amal Al Raisi’s A/W17 collection drew inspiration from Omani architecture with delicate gold and silver embellishments detailed across each relaxed, loose-fit silhouette. Using luxurious yet lightweight fabrics to accommodate the temperatures in the gulf, all of the looks were designed with Muslim women in mind. Produced by the Islamic Fashion and Design Council, Torino Fashion Week’s modest category featured handpicked designers (including Dubai’s Bambah by Maha Abdul Rasheed) showcasing abayas, kaftans and jalabiyas with models taking to the runway in hijabs and turbans, celebrating the style and elegance of modest fashion.

Participating at the event in association with Sabco Group, Amal, who launched her ready-to-wear eponymous label in 2015, also won second place in the luxury category at an awards ceremony for the best IFDC designers, held by Sommet Internationale de la Mode. “I’m incredibly grateful to have won second place… I’m excited to take my collection to Paris and open doors there. It was an honour to take part in such a high profile event aimed at exposing global markets to the modest fashion industry while providing emerging designers an international platform to display their collections,” said Al Raisi of her experience.
