#FFWD2016: Tair

“Samurai, don’t cry” was the name of the collection

Self-taught designer Aliya Tair, who appears in the October issue of Bazaar, inaugurated her first menswear collection with a strong and free-spirited androgynous presentation at Fashion Forward Season 8.

The mood was minimal with a sleek monochromatic palette and clean, geometric silhouettes. Tair’s 35-piece collection had a distinct cultural reference with its samurai-inspired suits and hidden Japanese embroidery, with the designer writing in the collection notes that it blended “the heritage of Far and Middle Eastern culture” referencing both regions’ impeccable tailoring and attention to detail.

It was the first time the designer has showed at Fashion Forward, and we’re certain Aliyah garnered herself more than a few new followers as a result. This is collection that is forging new ground in the Dubai menswear fashion scene – and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
