Inside Fendi’s Floral Couture Fantasy
Bella, Stella, Kendall and more took to the catwalk in blossoming, botanical-inspired looks
A similar seed must have been planted among designers at Couture Week this season as fashionable florets have proved to be a continuous theme on the catwalks in Paris. First, garlands of Baby’s Breath were wrapped around models at Rodarte, then watercolour peonies were painted onto gowns at Zuhair Murad, and now, Karl Lagerfeld’s beautiful blossoms at Fendi Haute Forrure have completed a trifecta of floral-inspired fashions.

Planted with silk peonies, feathers, poppies and touches of fur, each look was finished with a smattering of 3D blooms. The theme continued to grow across the entire collection with colouful buds sprouting on bags, shoes capes and coats in a rich palette of rose, pink and cobalt blue hues – balanced with more classic black and white offerings sporting subtle botanical touches.

Taking to a deep green catwalk, models including Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, both of whom have fronted campaigns for the brand, were dressed in cocoon-like capes, reminiscent of two leaves wrapped around each other, matching midi dresses and pretty petal skirts in wool, silk and fur options.

Our pick of the bunch? Bella’s sheer violet dress with vines of velvet flowers – the perfect finish to Fendi’s sartorial secret garden.
