Jacquemus’ Pink Catwalk In A Lavender Field Is The Runway To End All Runways
Everything about the brand’s 10th anniversary show was made for Instagram
As far as camp themes go, we think the Met Gala totally missed out on hiring Simon Porte Jacquemus for this year’s set design. The French fashion designer celebrated the 10 year anniversary of his eponymous label with arguably one of the most picturesque and original runways we ever did see.
Set amidst the lavender fields in Valensole, Provence, between the end of Men’s Fashion Week and the beginning of Haute Couture Week in Paris – a fitting deviation from the norm, in true Jacquemus-disruptor-mode form – the pink runway saw the likes of Nora Attal, Mica Argañaraz and Adesuwa showcase the fashion house’s spring/summer 2020 collection.
The collection, entitled Le Coup de Soleil (that means ‘The Sunburn’ to you and I), was comprised of both mens and womenswear – a first for the brand -, and boasted a dreamboat of pastel pairings, oversized blazers, matching suit pants layered over lace tunics in a tandem of utilitarian-meets-psychedelic tie-dye.
Accessories came in the form of mismatched earrings, a necklace-ized version of Jacquemus’s signature baby bag and that ma-hoo-sive hat we’ve seen on the page of every magazine and every influencer’s ‘gram profile alike.
The perfect setting for fashion’s most Instagram-savvy FROW goers, the location in the south of France is just a few miles from 29-year-old Jacquemus’ childhood home, making for an apt and sentimental location to celebrate how far the brand has come over the last decade.
