Peter Pilotto Spring/Summer 2017: The Best Looks

Bazaar selects the standout looks from London Fashion Week’s best collections

Peter Pilotto and Christper de Vos ventured to Latin America and Cuba, as well as Peru, De Vos’ homeland this season. The duo tried to tap into the vivacious colours and silhouettes of southern hemisphere dressing, and where it was successfully charming in some places, the signature Pilotto prints and patterns were overwhelming in others. Their colours captured the bird of paradise vibe — pink and blue, tons of white and glamorous gold. And all the models walked in embellished boudoir mules. At best, the runway reflected the joie de vivre of South American culture: The colours, patterns and summer silhouettes spun in elegant combination.

Dizzy prints looked refined yet fun on high-waisted skirts and culottes, recalling the 50s-era debutante and her mother on holiday in Cuba. And while retro gingham bra tops looked spot on, pairing them with denim culottes embellished with animal appliqués veered on kitschy. Palazzos, culottes and voluminous wrap skirts worked for both day and evening — height or high shoes required. A roughly-coloured in floral looked like the perfect answer for evenings on a beachy get-away. Casual and effortless. Dressed up ruffles, wraps and ballgown skirts rounded out the colour blocked stripes in bold colors. On the right girl, this will look wow, but it’s not for those unwilling to kick off their heels and jump into the middle of the salsa floor.
