The Regional Fashion Industry Just Got Its Very Own Gossip Girl: Introducing Fauxgue MENA

The tongue-in-cheek anonymous account is shaking up the industry, one post at a time

“Industry News. And Some Gossip,” is the tagline for the MENA region’s latest fashion news platform, Fauxgue.

Posting for the first time on Thursday, May 2 on Instagram, the anonymous account already has people talking with its quick-witted commentary on industry gossip, celebrity whereabouts, and general social commentary.

From a playful remark about the recent Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza party at Be Beach in Dubai, to Bazaar Arabia‘s Olivia Phillips’ 40th birthday celebration ( “SHE LOOKED HOT,” @fauxguemena wrote in the caption), it seems no industry insider is safe from the platform’s eagle-eyed posts.

Currently sporting over 150 followers on Instagram (and counting), Fauxgue also has a website in the pipeline, set to be launching soon. While no date has been confirmed for when it will go live, the website’s homepage touts users to subscribe to its mailing list for specials, sales, and news about events.

The account’s following list comprises a range of regional fashion and lifestyle publications, along with prominent writers, editors, stylists, and influential personalities in the industry.

This isn’t the first time a fashion-news account has caused a stir in the region. The popular DietSabya, which boasts over 450 thousand followers, has been exposing scandals and critiquing outfits since it first launched in 2018.

Now, with another opinionated fashion lover observing the industry online, it seems regional brands, influencers and everyone in between need to watch their stylish backs.
