Fendirumi Launches Across The GCC
From Milan to London, the snap-happy Insta mascots arrive in the Middle East
Forget Pokemon, the most stylish social media feeds are featuring a different kind of fun common thread of late, in the shape of furry Fendi celebrity couple; the two-metre tall pink ‘Piro-chan’ and blue ‘Bug-kun’ characters. The life-size ‘Fendirumi’ have been wandering around Milan and London (taking open top bus tours and stopping for photo ops along New Bond Street, of course), in collaboration with Harrods.
In celebration of the concept – which pays homage to the Japanese pop culture of the Kigurumi, originally Japanese mascots created in the 80’s to promote expo held by a local public entity – the GCC has got on board by offering bag charms of the cute couple throughout its standalone Fendi stores; recreated miniature versions of their full-size counterparts in mink and kidassia fur… The peak of fun accessorising? No kidding.
