A Number Of UK High Street Brands Are Banning The Use Of Down Feathers

Topshop, ASOS, Primark and Whistles are among 12 UK high street stores to ban the use of down feathers in the production of future collections. 

 

The move comes after a recent revelation from PETA on the cruelty involved in obtaining the feathers. “Just as they did with cruelly obtained angora wool, forward-thinking fashion brands are jumping to meet the demands of today’s compassionate consumers who want nothing to do with an industry that rips out live birds’ feathers. PETA will continue to work with retailers across the UK to ditch feathers in favour of natural or high-tech synthetic fillers that are hypoallergenic, warm, eco-friendly and infinitely kinder to birds,” Yvonne Taylor, a representative for the organisation told media.
