Anya Taylor-Joy Channels Her Inner Grecian Goddess At Dior Cruise 2022
Backlit by the majesty of the Panathenaic Stadium, her shimmering, sheer gold Dior dress billowing in the wind and her braided crown-like hair wrapped around her head, she could have easily passed for Euphrosyne, the Greek goddess of joy…
As a self-proclaimed fan of Greek mythology, Anya Taylor-Joy looked no less like a goddess at Dior’s Cruise 2022 show in Athens.
Dior creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri chose Athens as the show’s location because of its relationship to sports – the birthplace of the Olympics. The freedom of movement evident in Anya’s lightly pleated skirt and draped cape mirrored that of an athlete. Her choice of gold mesh-effect sandals from Dior’s Spring-Summer 2021 couture collection, echoed the contemporary, sporty look of the show; inimalist embellishments and smoky blue eyeshadow complimented the overall aesthetic. Speaking exclusively to Bazaar, Anya revealed her joy at being at the show which was a “complete sensory experience.”
For ardent fashion followers, Anya’s appearance in Dior’s front row will come as no surprise. The striking green Dior Couture gown The Queen’s Gambit actress wore to the Golden Globes earlier this year will go down as the moment that cemented her as a red carpet icon to watch.
