A statement released by the council says that the shows, which were due to commence today, won’t be taking place for another three days
Out of respect for the death of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, the Arab Fashion Council has announced it will be postponing Arab Fashion Week by three days.
“Following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, the Arab Fashion Council will respectfully postpone Arab Fashion Week, which was due to commence today, by three days,” the statement reads, noting that the virtual fashion week will be kicking off on March 28 and ending on April 1.
The statement was published both in Arabic and English on the Arab Fashion Week’s official Instagram account, hours after the schedules for fashion week had been posted
Earlier this week, the council unveiled the line of designers who would be showing throughout the livestreamed event; an updated calendar has now been posted on arabfashionweek.org.
“On behalf of the Arab Fashion Council, our esteemed partners and community of designers, we wish to convey our sincere condolence to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and to the people of the United Arab Emirates,” reads the statement by the council.
