Arab Woman Awards 2020: Winners Announced At World of Fashion
HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum won the humanitarian award, while HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan was named inspirational woman of the year, as UAE doctors were recognised for their vital contribution to the COVID-19 crisis throughout the ceremony
The Arab Woman Awards virtually held its 11th annual awards ceremony to celebrate the inspirational women across the UAE who have played a vital role in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum was awarded for her ‘10 Million Meals’ campaign that secured donations to provide meals to communities that were hit hard by the pandemic HH Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan was announced as the UAE’s most inspirational women of the year for her work as an entrepreneur, philanthropist and published author. With a goal to help the younger generation who were deeply affected by the dramatic and sudden change to their lives, she wrote a children’s eBook in hopes to educate them more about Covid-19.
UAE-based doctors and medical professionals were also recognised and praised by the Arab Woman Awards’ board of judges for being instrumental to the management of society and treatment of patients during this unprecedented time.
Accolades went to Dr Fatima Al Kaabi who is a senior specialist in research pertaining to ground-breaking stem cell projects concerning Covid-19, Dr Manal Taryam, the Director of the Dubai Field Hospital for the management of the coronavirus and Dr Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson for the health care sector in the UAE.

“I am proud to be working in the health sector. Despite all challenges the world faced in dealing with the Covid pandemic, I look to it as a positive due to the huge opportunities it created to us. Tremendous change happened to the world this year in health, economy and technology,” Dr Farida said.
“I look for a brighter future for our country and the world. My thanks and gratitude to the Arab Woman Awards for selecting me in this award.”

This year’s winners were chosen by a board of judges from across the UAE; the committee comprised of Elham Al Qasim, Manal Ataya, HE Maryam Eid Al Mheiri, Nada Abou Saab, Nadine Maalouf, Sheikha Noora bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Paula Askari, and Dr Sawsan Al Madhi.
