Chanel’s Cruise 2021/2022 Collection Will Soon Make Its Maiden Voyage To Dubai
The French fashion house has just announced it will be showcasing the entire collection at an undisclosed location, in the form of a physical fashion show, in the emirate later this year
With New York Fashion Week having announced the return of “physical” shows (as we’re now referring to them) the industry’s most prominent brands are beginning to host in-person events around the world, each one more exciting and luxe than the next.
Today, Chanel announced it will be presenting its Cruise 2021/2022 Collection in Dubai with a fashion show on November 2, 2021.
First unveiled to the world back in May at the Carrières de Lumières in the village of Les Baux-de-Provence, in the south of France; the collection fuses together craftsmanship with elements of rock ‘n’ roll dressing, suitable for warmer climates; think fringe, beads and sequins paired with the house’s iconic tweed suits.
Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was the first designer to start creating cruise collections back at the end of the 1910s for her clients that wintered in warmer climates on streamliners. The house was responsible for putting the concept of resort collections on the fashion calendar in the early noughties, as more luxury brands began following suit in unveiling their latest in resort wear.
This isn’t the first time the French maison has showcased its cruise collection within the emirate; back in 2014, the house showed its Cruise 2014/2015 collection in Dubai, with celebrities like Tilda Swinton, Dakota Fanning and Freida Pinto in attendence as top models Charlotte Free, Lindsey Wixson and Sam Rollinson strutted down the catwalk.
While the location of the fashion show has yet to be announced, we’re waiting on bated breath for more information about what will surely be one of the most memorable showings of a cruise collection to date.
