Dior is teaming up with Air Jordan to launch a limited edition ‘Air Dior’ capsule collection, but good luck trying to snag a pair of these super exclusive kicks.
At the Dior A/W 2020 Men’s show that took place in Miami back in December, Dior Homme creative director Kim Jones unveiled what many anticipated to be one of the hottest footwear collaborations of 2020. The French fashion house was teaming up with Air Jordan to collaborate on a limited-edition sneaker, along with an Air Dior capsule collection of ready-to-wear items and accessories.
But adding a pair of Air Jordan 1 OG Dior kicks to your shoe collection could pose to be a bit of a challenge…
Sneakerheads will need to register via a special micro-website for the opportunity to buy a pair at a specific pop-up store or participating Dior boutique, and will only be allowed to choose one style and size per purchase, adding another element of anticipation to the hunt. Each pop-up store and boutique will have a limited number of pairs and priority will be given on a first come, first served basis.
Only individuals who have registered via the special micro-website will have the opportunity to make the purchase, however, there will be no obligation to buy a pair of the sneaker should the individual change their mind.
If you happen to be one of the lucky ones that was selected for the opportunity to make a purchase, Dior will send you an invite to purchase your shoes at the select pop-up boutique using a unique QR code with your credentials. Thus, a government-issued ID will need to be shown at the time of purchase. And the Air Dior capsule collection? All of the ready-to-wear items and accessories, in collaboration with the Jordan Brand, will be available to shop from July onwards at two pop-up stores located inside the Selfridges Corner Shop (London, England) and Taikoo Li (Chengdu, China).
The pop-up store spaces will celebrate the sportswear emblems meeting couture elegance, clad in the colors of the iconic Air Jordan 1 OG Dior. They will showcase all the steps involved in the manufacturing of the sneaker, including behind-the-scenes imagery.
