Gucci Gets Wild For Its Spring/Summer 2017 Campaign
Lions and tigers and leopards oh my!
For its Spring/Summer17 advertising campaign, Gucci has decided to return to its homeland, Rome and we all know the saying, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. If this is the case then book us a one way trip, as we’ll be running the streets with wild animals in head to toe Gucci.
Shot by British film director Glen Luchford, with art director Christopher Simmonds and of course Alessandro Michele as the creative director and head of styling, the whole piece is completely and fantastically eccentric. With a vibe that resonates 70s art house, the campaign was largely inspired by personalities who called Rome home, from abstract expressionist Cy Twombly, collagist and postmodernist painter Mario Schifano and actress Laura Betti.
Encapsulating the romanticism of the city, artists, intellectuals, creatives and other unconventional characters share the spotlight with a whole host of furry friends, including a giraffe being fed with grapes and a tiger gnawing on a Gucci duffle bag before frolicking in the Trevi foundation.
