The Vampire’s Wife x H&M: A Collection That Will Make Any Midnight Goddess Swoon
From the inspiration behind the new collaboration to creating the collection in the middle of a pandemic, Bazaar shares insight into how it all came together…
Loved by A-Listers (including the likes of Princess Beatrice and The Duchess of Cambridge) and best known for its romantic-yet-whimsical designs, The Vampire’s Wife (TVW) has recently teamed up with high street retailer H&M to create a collection of pieces perfect for those who love a touch of gothic glamour to their feminine style.
Bazaar chats with the TVW team here about the collaboration, working together during the time of COVID-19 and the muses behind the inspiration.
Can you share any insight into the inspiration behind the collaboration and what was the creative process like?
TVW: H&M reached out to us and we started a dialogue. There are many fans of the brand that are not able to purchase a dress from The Vampire’s Wife due to the designer price point but Susie Cave, our creative director and founder of TVW was inspired to bring her designs to a wider audience at an accessible price point. The process of working with H&M was seamless. The design team were a dream to work with, they were able to bring Susie’s designs to life! Due to the global pandemic, it was done all over Zoom — which ended up working perfectly.
How will the pieces from the collaboration be different when compared to the pieces from The Vampire’s Wife line? What have you done differently with the H&M collaboration that you normally wouldn’t do with The Vampire’s Wife?
TVW: The pieces in The Vampire’s Wife x H&M collection are inspired by the main collections from The Vampire’s Wife. Susie created unique pieces for H&M that have the feeling of The Vampire’s Wife, yet make up a new stand alone collection on their own.
The Vampire’s Wife main collection has couture level quality and finishes that can not be accomplished at the H&M price point; that being said, we were all very pleased with the final product from H&M.
What are you most excited about when it comes to The Vampire’s Wife X H&M collaboration?
TVW: The most exciting thing is to have our designs available to a new audience.
What are your favorite pieces from the collection and why?
TVW: Susie Cave’s favourite pieces are the silver lace and velvet mini-cape and the jewelry!
Why did you choose to have Samantha Snow, Eva Apio and Greta Bellamacina star in the campaign? Can you reveal any other fun details our readers should know about the campaign shoot?
TVW: We were fortunate to collaborate with three amazing muses for the H&M collection. Samantha Snow is our in house model and First Design Assistant to Susie. We shoot Sam for all of our look books and campaigns; she has been with The Vampire’s Wife since the beginning and has been a part of every major achievement for the brand.
Eva Apio was an incredible addition to The Vampire’s Wife x H&M campaign. We were quite impressed with Eva’s philanthropic endeavours; she recently founded The Eva Apio foundation which supports the needs of African youth. The Vampire’s Wife launched masks during the COVID-19 crisis with a portion of proceeds donated to charity and, therefore, we were able to support many charities across the world with a specific focus on women and children. It is a dream to work with others with similar goals.
Greta Bellamancia is a talented actress and poet. She has worn The Vampire’s Wife many times in the past and has been a great supporter of the brand. She looks incredible in The Vampire’s Wife pieces and represents us well; her poems have been inspirational to our team as we create new collections and think of our customers.
The Vampire’s Wife x H&M will be available in selected stores and online on October 22.
