From Saudi With Love: Kate Moss, Jourdan Dunn and Other Supermodels Star In Mônot’s New Campaign

Shot entirely within 24 hours at Al Ula, the Kingdom’s first Unesco Heritage Site, designer Eli Mizrahi teamed up with some of the biggest names in fashion in order to pull off one of the most dramatic photoshoots of the year

It’s not every day fashion legends from all four corners of the globe venture out into the Saudi desert with the intentions of creating something extraordinary and beautiful – but for Lebanese-American designer, Eli Mizrahi, orchestrating one of the most unique shoots of 2020 appeared to be somewhat effortless, if a little mysterious.

After all, no one knew Kate Moss had paid a visit to Al Ula, let alone being joined by an entire troupe of the industry’s most notable muses.

Mônot’s A/W 2020-2021 campaign shoot took place Maraya, the largest mirrored building in the world (which happens to be right in the middle of the Saudi desert) and featured the crème de la crème, all working together to create breathtaking imagery and video.

Shot by photography duo Luigi & Iango (before the world went into lockdown), the stunning backdrop of dunes and canyons complimented the supermodels’ beauty as Jourdan Dunn, Candice Swanepoel, Mariacarla Boscono, Amber Valletta, Xiao Wen Ju and Alek Wek joined Kate in bringing to life the collection’s pieces.

“When I saw Maraya I knew that was where I wanted to shoot my first campaign,” Eli said.

“Maraya is Arabic for mirror. For me, it symbolized self-reflection. And I know that right now the world is in the process of its own sort of self-reflection.”

The designer was very involved in the creative process of the shoot, tapping the likes of stylist Carine Roitfeld and makeup artist Georgi Sandev to help bring his vision to life.

The entire collection takes inspiration from geometric concepts, architecture and contemporary artist Lucio Fontana.
