Saudi Abaya Brand Lomar + Safia Hosts Its First Fashion Show in Riyadh
In celebration of the launch collection, designer Princess Safia Hussein Guerras unveiled a select few pieces at an intimate gathering at the Belgian Embassy this past weekend
Safia wanted to redefine the abaya in her new collaboration with Lomar and its creative director Christophe Beaufays – and this is exactly what she did, as she presented a modern yet chic interpretation within her new collection, one that is wearable for women around the world, whether they’re located in Riyadh or in London.

Safia – who’s married to His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Saud Al-Faisal – shared with Bazaar that she’s been dreaming of designing the collection for almost fourteen years now; finally, it was presented to an intimate audience of tastemakers and industry insiders at the Belgian embassy in Riyadh with the help of her daughter, Princess Hannah bint Khalid Al-Faisal, who modeled her mother’s incredibly chic designs.
“Words cannot describe how proud I am of my mother today. I saw the time and effort that she put into this collection and I think she did something wonderful. I loved these designs and specifically this design that I’m wearing, I feel empowered wearing it,” Princess Hannah notes, sharing just how hard her mother worked towards making the collection a reality.
In addition to Princess Hannah gracing the audience with her presence on the catwalk, HRH Prince Khalid bin Saud Al-Faisal and his children also watched the show from their front row seats, giving their full support to both mother and daughter.
“I wanted to give her the opportunity to work with me in this project, and it is important for me to have her around in these moments,” Notes Princess Safia, who was previously signed to famed modeling agency Elite Model Management in Paris.
The Lomar + Safia capsule collection presented a new-form of abaya, that cleverly merge intricate details with traditional Arabic motifs and geometric patterns. Think colour-blocked designs, contemporary textures and tailoring, and natural fibres. Everything about the collection emanates contemporary chic, while referencing the essence and beauty of Saudi heritage, flush with cultural meanings interwomen within the pieces.
The collection was first revealed exclusively within Harper’s Bazaar Arabia’s December 2020 issue, with a beautiful editorial photoshoot featuring Princess Hannah alongside other Saudi models.
