Christian Louboutin Is Releasing A Couture Inspired Collection

Using a fabric that has been five years in the making

Juxtaposing rich, luxurious styles and fabrics with a tough, somewhat undone finish, Christian Louboutin was inspired by the painstakingly intricate process of creating Haute Couture for his A/W17 collection. 

Sculpted in French fabrics with weighty embroidery, the designer developed a specific type of cloth to be the cornerstone of the collection known as Organza Déchiré, or Torn Organza. Developed through five years of research and trial, the material is created by sewing together strops of organza onto a foundation, before shredding it all by hand with scissors to create a rough, unfinished, yet beautifully layered texture.

Commenting on the process Monsieur Louboutin noted, “Organza is a delicate fabric often found in the work of Couture, which is one of the reasons why I love it. I wanted to work it in a way where it appeared as if the shredded pieces were sitting on the shoes, nearly about to take off with the wind. I imagined this in the same way the Thai people apply golden leaves on the Buddha’s statues in the temples. When the leaves move, it appears the Buddha is shivering.” 

Used on three classic styles for next season, the bootie Toubootfrou, knee-high boots Toualtafrou and pump Toufrou, the styles have a rock and roll finish whilst still mantaining their elegant silhouettes.
