Exclusive: Malone Souliers and Sara Battaglia On What Valentine’s Day Means To Them

We steal a moment to chat with the designers about love

Italian accessories designer Sara Battaglia (yes, the sister of Giovanna) says her idea of the perfect date is when it surprises her. “I love the unexpected,” she says. “It could be a simple dinner in a very cosy and intimate space, but there has to be a ‘wow’ effect and to be intensely romantic.” As for her plans for tonight? “I’ll be celebrating with my boyfriend. I don’t know what he has planned for us – let’s see!”

Mary Alice Malone, one half of the duo behind much-loved shoe brand Malone Souliers, confesses that her favourite memory of love is “when my nephew was born.” She adds, “There’s not just one person that I love the most in the world. All of my family and friends are very dear to me.” Mary also tells Bazaar that she feels a lot of love for her job. “I love making shoes. Part of my job includes drawing and colouring, it’s like being in school all over again! I love that I get to create every day.”
