Watch Now: Moda Operandi Asks Fashion Insiders’ Friends About What They Do At Work

And their responses are hilarious

You would think that family members and friends of fashion’s biggest players would have an extensive knowledge of the industry, right? Not so much. 

In a video by luxury retailer Moda Operandi ironically titled “Everybody Knows About Fashion,” designers, models, editors, photographers, stylists and more test their nearest and dearest’s knowledge about what they really do at work. The result is a humorous slew of misconceptions about jobs and many mistaken industry names (“Imin” for Iman, Rosie O’Donnell rather than Assoulin and Martin Scorsese instead of Margiela).

Wes Gordon’s mother, for example, told her son: “You sit at your desk and draw…”. Meanwhile, Faith Kates’ (founder of Next Model Management) mother was a little more blunt: “You? I have no idea!” 

But Bazaar US executive editor Laura Brown might’ve brought about the best answer when her partner gave her this definition: “Pre-fall is that moment when you trip and you realize you’re about to fall.” Nailed it.
