Rami Kadi Celebrates His 10-Year Anniversary With A Fashion Show Like No Other
The Lebanese couture designer showcased his SS ’21 Retrospective 10 collection, along with five other exclusive designs, at Walk of Cairo last week
Rami is no stranger to glitz and glamour, having dressed Hollywood royalty, like Kendall Jenner and Dita Von Teese. His magical couture house has appealed to celebrities on the red carpet and he’s a regular at prestigious industry events like Paris Fashion Week. Known for his glamorous bridal and evening couture dresses, his work stands out by embracing embroidery as the essence of his creations. Recently, a crowd of 300 guests in Cairo were enthralled by his stunningly romantic collection of dresses gracing the runway in the land of the Pharaohs as the Lebanese couture designer showcased his SS ’21 Retrospective 10 collection, along with five other exclusive designs, at Walk of Cairo.
The show was hosted by Walk of Cairo in celebration of Rami Kadi Maison de Couture’s 10-Year anniversary.
Walk of Cairo is set to become Egypt’s premier pedestrian high street destination, by bringing together fashion, culture and leisure. Inspired by Carnaby street in London it was the perfect venue for such a glittering evening; the collection combined exquisite craftsmanship and hand embroidery, along with a range of metallic colors such as gold, bronze, platinum and silver.
Speaking with Bazaar Rami said, “I’m very happy to have celebrated my 10 years anniversary in Cairo, in this beautiful space, Walk of Cairo. It’s a very luxurious place with a beautiful landscape and architecture. Cairo and Egypt in general have a vast culture and it’s known in the fashion and cinema industry. I also wanted to celebrate my anniversary in an Arab country and specifically in Egypt as its now booming in many ways, especially in fashion.”
Sequin and feather-embellished ensembles were spotted on the catwalk, along with one-of-a-kind pieces including a fringed feather-trimmed dress and fluffier, flowy gowns.
Each piece gave off a whimsical yet elegant feel, but it was the standout bridal gown really mesmerised the audience; the ultra-feminine painstakingly sequined and beaded off-shoulder gown in white was breathtaking and dreamy. These gowns offered a kaleidoscopic explosion of metallic colors such as gold, bronze, platinum and silver.
But there was more to the night. The connections made in the front rows, the shared electricity of a crowd turned on by witnessing something genuinely new, and the physical pleasure of seeing clothes in motion were key takeaways this season. Reviving the norm, the Egyptian elite crowd displayed a keen sense of style right from the start, dazzling us with their eye-catching sequin dresses, a dominating look that the flashing lights of cameras could not resist.
The audience – which included Egyptian actresses Shereen Reda and Amina Khalil, were all out glam with distinctive outfits ranging from classic ladies suits to glitzy and vibrant cocktail dresses. It was a joyous occasion which gave celebrities, bloggers and guests a chance to forget about the pandemic for a little while. With the sounds of glasses clinking and trendy songs playing, it was a night to remember.
Speaking of the Cairo fashion show, Rami told Bazaar, “I hope that I will leave a modern impact on Cairo, and I am looking forward to more events here.” So are the Egyptians.
