Vetements and Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia is well known (and loved) for his tongue-in-cheek aesthetic, so when the brand was asked to do a takeover of French retailer Colette, Gvasalia created a limited edition piece that would have shoppers flocking to the It girl shopping haven.
Created using calfskin leather, the Balenciaga shopping tote may look exactly like your classic carrier bag but is cleverly crafted with vinyl handles and a silver zipper at the top, an expensive upgrade from the regular paper finish, but, as some social media users have pointed out, the idea is similar to a Chanel tote from 2009.

This viral accessory’s release comes after the success of Balenciaga’s infamous ‘Ikea bag,‘ which also sold out within days of launching and saw thousands sign up to the waiting list ahead of their restock.
