How The FENDI Spring/Summer 2022 Is Channelling 70s Retro Energy
The brand’s latest campaign spotlights female confidence and projects positive vibes, as Kim Jones takes a page out of an iconic fashion illustrator’s sketchbook; true dopamine dressing at its finest…
There’s an ease of movement to the way the models dance and pose; an effortless fluidity reflected within the collection – exotic kaftans, tassel dresses, and silky column gowns. The pastel colours and the infectious smiles of the models enrich the pieces with a sense of joyfulness, a true celebration of spring’s arrival.

There’s no doubt about it; the FENDI Spring/Summer 2022 collection ushers in a new era, one filled with optimism.
Starring models Vittoria Ceretti, Yilan Hua, Barbara Valente, Rianne Van Rompaey and Anok Yai, the campaign – lensed by Craig McDean – Kim Jones’ second ready-to-wear collection is brought to life. The collection takes inspiration from a logo sketch Kim found in the FENDI archives by the late fashion illustrator, Antonio Lopez.

Antonio is known for representing the zeitgeist of New York City in the 60s, 70s, 80s – a time defined by glitz and glamour, during which his work would often appear in the glossies that chronicled this magical era (including Harper’s Bazaar); a friend to the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Andy Warhol, he injected a sense of movement in the way he sketched clothing, imbuing it with the liberated spirit of the time.
From kaftans to party dresses and suiting (lots of it), Kim has created a dazzling, elegant collection, complete with abstractions of Lopez’s sketches printed on and interwoven into the clothes. After two years of cancelled events brought on by a series of lockdowns, we are all ready to hit the dance floor with the vivacity of New York City’s heyday.
