After stepping back from being creative director at Celine, where she has worked for over ten years, everyone’s eyes have been closely surveilling Phoebe’s every move, awaiting her fashion comeback. However, the time to be patient and drink tea has now finally come to an end. After announcing the launch of her own fashion label in 2020, the British creative has now finally taken to Instagram, providing fashionistas with some more details. In the post, the designer shared that her inaugural collection will be revealed on her website, phoebephilo.com, in September this year and that registration opens in July.
Phoebe is known for revolutionising the Celine brand, launching many it-bags such as the Trapeze and Luggage totes and the globally loved gold-letter pendants. Not just that, her first ad campaign did not go by unnoticed, as she notably excluded the models’ heads from the images so the viewer would only focus on the products being presented. However, what fashionistas especially loved about her collections is, that she designed them with the female gaze in mind, ensuring women that being beautiful and powerful are not mutually exclusive. Fans have even created Instagram accounts in her honour, showcasing and selling her old designs under names like Old Céline — notably with the accent on the E, which has been removed by Phoebe’s successor Hedi Slimane right after he became creative director.
