Is The New Armani Privé Haute Couture Collection Inspired By Moroccan Kaftans? The Internet Thinks So…

The fusion of cultures takes center stage as the Italian fashion brand unveiled a visual feast of lace, embroidery, and a midnight blue kaftan that resonates with Moroccan traditions

At 89, fashion pioneer and living icon, Giorgio Armani continues to design collections that not only excite fashion enthusiasts but also never fail to cause a buzz online.

His latest collection for Armani Privé’s S/S 2024 Haute Couture Fashion Show has once again solidified the Italian fashion label’s place in today’s fashion world.

Featuring elements of inspiration from different cultures, the collection plays with various textures and colours. No Armani Privé collection is complete without touches of opulence, as the label is solely dedicated to the designer’s made-to-order pieces.

During the show, the audience was treated to a visual feast of lace, intricate embroidery, and finely crafted appliqués, complemented by models styled with deep side parts, braids and vibrant blue eye makeup.

The runway depicted a journey from the West to the East with Kimono-like robes, kaftans, skirts, long dresses, bodices, and of course, quintessentially Armani jackets and trousers. Throughout the collection, a theme of pale pinks, jade green, periwinkle, gold, midnight, and royal blues was noted.

Kaftan-like piece becomes an instant hit online

It was one particular piece from the collection, a midnight blue (seemingly) kaftan-inspired robe, that garnered attention online.

As soon as the videos of the model adorned in the piece circulated on Instagram, people were quick to note its apparent resemblance to Moroccan-style kaftans – a garment that has been worn in the North African country for centuries.

An instagrammer, @amalbelcaid_officiel, wrote: “Morocco expresses gratitude to designers who have shown interest in the Moroccan kaftan, drawing inspiration from its rich cultural heritage. Acknowledging and celebrating the unique elements of Moroccan craftsmanship helps promote and preserve the authenticity of this traditional garment, whose origin is deeply rooted in Morocco’s history and cultural traditions.”

Another commenter, @nini_in_london posted saying, “Inspired by the Algerian kaftan”. The comments were endless, appreciating the fashion maestro’s work.

The collection comes just in time for Ramadan, when we’re all getting our best kaftan-chic on for iftars. Some of the other pieces are also perfect if you are taking Ramadan and Eid style inspiration notes.

This is not the first time the Italian fashion house has designed using Arabian-inspired silhouettes and kaftan-like pieces. Previously releasing specific collections for Ramadan, we’ve seen kaftans from the label in silk and cotton silk.
