Is Loro Piana’s New Extra Softy the Season’s Most Practical Bag?

An elongated, effortless take on an already iconic piece from the Italian brand

Loro Piana has introduced the Extra Softy Bag as part of its Spring Summer 2026 line, and it is exactly what it sounds like, and refreshingly so. It’s an elongated, infinitely soft take on the brand’s much-loved Extra Bag. With added flexibility and an effortless feel, it has all the makings of a go-to, suited for airport runs, leisurely lunches, evenings out, and everything in between.

The piece is specifically created to transition from day to night, reflecting Loro Piana’s long focus on subtlety and practicality. 

The choice of material plays a big role in the bag’s character and its inherent softness. The Extra Softy is crafted using a selection of supple finishes, including satin, woven leather, soft fine-grained leather, smooth butter calf, and Wish Cash Double Chevron. The latter is a precious fabric that is skilfully handcrafted, adding a discreet yet distinctive touch to the design. 

The piece also features a vintage-style leather keyring with the Ghiera charm. Meanwhile, the adjustable and fully detachable strap allows the bag to be worn on the shoulder or across the body. The strap is attached using a bridge hook inspired by the curve of the handle. Securing the wide zip opening is the brand’s signature gold three-dimensional padlock, engraved with the Loro Piana initials.

The Extra Softy Bag is available in two sizes, L33 and L44, for those who prefer having a little more space, and comes in four shades: Fossil, Ancient Sandstone, Dark Chocolate Licorice, and Baby Cashmere. The new style is available in all Loro Piana boutiques and on loropiana.com.
