And this year, Masoom made her fourth appearance at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in nothing less than statement outfits that surely went viral online. Styled by the renowned Anaita Shroff Adajania, all the looks from the festival were on-point and made a statement on the red carpet.

Harper’s Bazaar Arabia (HBA): How was your Cannes 2023 experience overall?
Masoom Minawala (MM): My Cannes 2023 experience was amazing. It was my fourth year attending the festival, but this time was different—I had fun. From the thrill of last-minute red carpet-preparations to embracing fashion and unique looks, I immersed myself in the joy of being present. One memorable story was finalizing my first red carpet gown by Marmar Halim just three hours before the event, and receiving it 30 minutes before stepping onto the carpet. This year, I truly had fun with fashion – I didn’t play by the usual rules and just focused on sharing what fashion really means for me and how it inspires me!
HBA: What was your highlight moment at Cannes this year?
MM: Cannes 2023 will forever hold a special place in my heart because I had my lucky charm, my son with me.
HBA: Which one of your looks has been your favourite and why?
MM: Tough one. I think it has to be the majestic powder blue custom gown by Falguni Shane Peacock. The ensemble had a 13 feet long waist cape trail while showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship that India is renowned for.
HBA: How are you managing work-life balance as a new mom? Especially with such a hectic schedule.
MM: As a new mom, managing work-life balance has been quite a journey for me. To be completely honest, I truly believe that finding a perfect balance is a myth. It’s been a juggle, but I’m learning and adapting as each day unfolds. It’s a process of constantly adjusting and finding what works best for both my professional commitments and the needs of my baby.
HBA: Who is your biggest style icon?
MM: Currently, Blake Lively.
HBA: What does fashion mean to you?
MM: The meaning of fashion has transformed for me, evolving in tandem with the different stages of my life. Right now, fashion for me is all about having fun while expressing my individuality.
HBA: Who are your top two favourite designers?
MM: Anamika Khanna and Iris Van Herpen.
HBA: How would you describe your sense of style? Anything you would like to change?
MM: I would describe my sense of style as eclectic and ever-evolving. Whether it’s a red carpet-event or a casual street-style moment, I embrace fashion as a form of self-expression and creativity. One thing I would like to work on is to challenge myself even further and push the boundaries of fashion even more.
