Middle East Fashion Week Is Coming Back To Dubai In November
With a focus on sustainability, the event will bring together local and international designers to showcase their collections to the world
The second edition of Middle East Fashion Week (MEFW) will take place at The Agenda in Dubai Media City from November 7 – 10, 2022. The Middle East Fashion Council (MEFC), the governing body behind MEFW, sees the event as crucial to the fostering and development of regional creative talent. Press and buyers will also be invited to browse showrooms (which will be on site), allowing them to directly engage with the product and meet the designers.
“The region is home to fantastic designers, yearning to share their creations with the world. With international and local buyers flocking to Middle East Fashion Week, it is without a doubt this is the perfect platform to make their debut,” said Simon J Lo Gatto, founder and CEO of MEFW and MEFC.
Sustainability is central to the MEFC’s mandate. They believe that nurturing designers through an environmentally conscious lens is imperative to the future success of the industry. As such, the MEFW will hold the second edition of the Middle East Sustainable Fashion Forum – a panel of speakers leading discussions on environmentally responsible and financially viable ways to integrate sustainable practices into the design process and the supply chain.
The event will deliberately be hosted at The Agenda, which is working to become the world’s first carbon negative performance venue. Once fully developed, The Agenda will harness readily available cutting-edge technology to ensure that its own power consumption is kept at a minimum. Through a number of key action plans, which include forestation, the venue is looking to offset 150% of the emissions it can’t circumvent.
All guests will be able to see the footprint they create from attending an event at the venue. They will then get to see how their footprint is being offset by The Agenda’s various environmental initiatives.
Fashion weeks are hugely influential and present a singular opportunity for designers to network and make a name for themselves in this highly competitive industry. Middle East Fashion Week promises to be an exciting event for all, and will reinforce the ever-growing presence of Dubai on the global fashion map.
