Clueless came out five years before Willow Smith was even born, but that doesn't stop the 15-year-old from perfectly recreating the cult classic on her own terms. In the ninth issue of CR Fashion Book, the rising musician, model and all-around Cool Teen resurrects Cher Horowitz' iconic yellow plaid co-ords.
In the feature for Bazaar's Carine Roitfeld's high fashion mag, she's photographed by Bruce Weber in costume separates from Yandy.com and a Uniqulo top. But Smith is anything but preppy; she wears mismatched black-and-white socks, platform creepers, a sunny head wrap and a septum piercing, repping her own brand of cool. For an issue fronted by Rihanna dressed as a modern-day, badass Marie Antoinette, it only seems right for Smith to revamp a pop culture icon as well—a Roitfeld staple.
Smith, who, like Marie Antoinette, has a passion for the arts, also penned an essay for the magazine about art and beauty. "I do not believe in categorising what is beautiful and what is ugly. There is only what is," she writes.
