This year’s Met Gala theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” gave celebrities and creative directors plenty of room to celebrate the late German designer, however, it seems Pedro was marching the beat of his own drum.

The 47-year-old Chilean-American actor is best known for his roles in hit TV shows such as Game of ThronesThe Mandalorian, and, most recently, The Last of Us. Despite his fame, the actor has been relatively private about his personal life, including his relationship status; he didn’t appear to have arrived at the Met Gala with a date, although guests often aren’t allowed to bring a plus one to the ball.

Pedro stepped out on the Met Gala red carpet hours after Deadline revealed he will be joining the cast of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel.

According to the exclusive story, Pedro is in final negotiations to join the untitled film for Paramount, which will see Ridley Scott return to direct. The details of Pascal’s role in the movie are unknown.

The Gladiator sequel is a follow-up to the 2000 blockbuster that grossed over $460 million worldwide and won five Oscars, including Best Picture. Russell Crowe’s portrayal of the Roman general-turned-gladiator, Maximus, was a career-defining role that earned him the Best Actor Oscar and made him a leading man in Hollywood.

Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington are also set to star in the film. David Scarpa penned the script, and the original film’s director of photography, production designer, and costume designer will return for the sequel.

Paramount Pictures has set a release date of November 22, 2024, for the film.
