10 Times Regional Designers Took The Venice Film Festival Red Carpet By Storm
Bazaar Arabia shares the Middle Eastern designers that left us star-struck with ensembles at this year’s red carpet…
The 80th Venice Film Festival commenced last week and welcomed various notable personalities and filmmakers to the city to celebrate a portfolio of incredible work. However, with the ongoing Hollywood strike, the question of whether A-listers from around the globe will be seen gracing the red carpet remains a topic of discussion. While a few hot-ticket titles will be showcased at this year’s festivities, the biggest industry walk-out in decades will likely result in the absence of many of our favourite stars.
Launched in 1932, the prestigious event historically showcases international cinema, celebrates artistic innovation, and demonstrates storytelling excellence to its best. Presenting various notable awards, the 10-day extravaganza serves as a significant platform for both established and emerging filmmakers to garner critical acclaim and global attention while also memorable red carpet fashion moments.
In this cultural celebration, several A-listers walked down the red carpet donned in beautiful creations by Middle Eastern designers. From Zuhair Murad to Rami Kadi, Bazaar Arabia shares all the details here…

Raya Abirached in Rami Al Ali
Adorned in one of Rami’s stand out pieces from his A/W 23 collection was Lebanese presenter Raya Abirached. With white tassels of crystals and leaves flowing rhythmically as she walked down the carpet, Raya stunned us in a one-of-a-kind guipure mermaid dress.
Eleonora Carisi in Rami Kadi
Lebanese fashion designer Rami Kadi, who is known for his exquisite craftsmanship, amazed the crowd with his custom misty blue gown on Italian fashion blogger Eleonora Carisi. The torso sculpted an hourglass look and the feathers emerging from Eleonora’s flowy skirt danced with the breeze, creating the perfect outfit for a magical evening.
Nicole Mazzocato in Rami Kadi
Rami’s extravagant orange gown dripping with metallic threads and sequins rendered the crowd speechless, making Italian actress Nicole Mazzocato the belle of the ball. An intricate web of embellishments formed voluminous sleeves that fell dramatically and moved with the actor as she walked down the carpet.
Nadine Labaki in Rami Kadi
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Rami showcased the breadth of his capabilities with this mysterious off-shoulder black gown crafted for Lebanese actor and designer Nadine Labaki. The sheer floral pattern created with lace makes this outfit sultry yet enchanting.
Nima Benati in Zuhair Murad
Exuding elegance and grace in each of his works, Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad dressed Italian photographer Nima Benati in a figure-hugging white gown with a criss-cross neckline and a triangular cut in the middle. The outfit was accessorised with a luxurious feathered coat, adding Hollywood glamour to this classic look.
Virginia Varinelli in Zuhair Murad

Raya Abirached in Georges Hobeika
With his innovative outlook, Lebanese designer Georges Hobeika brought colour to the carpet with Raya Abirached’s 2nd outfit for the evening. The white strapless gown served as a canvas for a rainbow of glimmering sequins that sparkled brightly, making this dress perfect for the star-studded event.
Angelina Frerk in Georges Hobeika
Georges adorned German model Angelina Frerk in a delicate one-shoulder lime green and white dress. The embellishments on the dress formed a floral pattern on one side and a wave like pattern on the other, mimicking fish scales. The diamonds hanging from the skirt imitate droplets of water, unraveling a mystical storyline.
Jacqueliene Fernandez in Gemy Maalouf
Indian actor Jacqueliene Fernandez opted for an elegant piece by Beirut-born designer Gemy Maalouf. Paired with a Dior handbag and some statement accesories, Jacqueliene’s ensemble was surely on point.
