Ashi Studio Opens Riyadh Fashion Week
Paying tribute to the breath-taking beauty of Mother Nature at night, the KSA-born couturier makes history as the first designer to show at the inaugural fashion week
Day One of the inaugural Riyadh Fashion Week commenced with a homecoming: Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi unveiled his new collection in the presence of regional celebrities, industry insiders, and the global fashion community, kicking off the four-day event located at the King Abdullah Financial District.
Hosted by the Saudi Fashion Commission, Riyadh Fashion Week was the first time the designer had ever presented his work in his hometown.
Titled 8pm, the collection took inspiration from the desert at night, artfully capturing the fleeting radiance of twinkling stars and sand dunes bathed in moonlight, weaving it all into a lavish array of eveningwear ensembles while paying homage to the art of grand soir dressing and special occasion attire — dazzling tribute to opulence and elegance.
“Mohammed Ashi has already made history as the first Saudi designer to join the ranks of haute couture. As a leader in Saudi fashion, we are incredibly honored to invite him back to Saudi during another historical moment in time – Riyadh Fashion Week,” Burak Çakmak, CEO of the Saudi Fashion Commission, said.
The famed Saudi designer has dressed a number of notable royals and celebrities, including Beyoncé, Deepika Padukone, Zendaya, Queen Rania and Cardi B, and was the first Saudi designer on the Paris Haute Couture Week calendar, having officially been accepted into the esteemed Federation de la Haute Couture.
