The nine piece capsule collection is a party dress heaven – expect big volume, lots of tulle and a rainbow of colours to choose from

Mytheresa just released its exclusive capsule collection in partnership with Giambattista Valli following a star-studded launch at Villa Aurelia in the designer’s hometown of Rome.

Staying true to his house codes, Giambattista infused each dress – whether a cocktail number or an evening gown – with his signature ultra-feminine, romantic aesthetic. “I love how girls are independent in their points of view, they complete a look with their personality. They want to look one-of-a-kind, that’s why we did this special collection,” the designer says.

Ever resolute on his mission of finding beauty in happiness and spreading joy through his designs, Giambattista designed the collection with the same intention, “we wanted to support the happy time, post-COVID, now that people are starting to breathe and live again,” he explained.

The pandemic gave women the opportunity to invest in themselves, in self-care and ultimately, to prioritise their own happiness. And this capsule collection celebrates every young woman’s unapologetic individuality and the joy that comes with shedding the weight of self-doubt.

Given that Giambattista is one of a handful of non-French designers belonging to the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, it is no surprise that haute couture continues to be a relevant benchmark for him. However, he saw this collaboration with Mytheresa as an opportunity to interweave fine craftsmanship into pieces that can be made accessible to a wider customer base. Moreover, he sees the Mytheresa client as having a discerning eye for special, artisanal creations.

Designing special pieces that people keep in their closets forever is an “eco way to do clothes,” he adds, “I want to be with you during your most unforgettable moments. Every time you go back to your wardrobe and you see my dress, I want it to give you the best memories.” While many are still hesitant to travel, and restrictions remain in many parts of the world, partnering with an e-commerce platform and making the collection available online is, “a beautiful way to be connected,” proclaims Giambattista.
