Paris Haute Couture Week Starts Today. Here’s How To (Virtually) Watch The Shows…
Despite France’s nationwide curfew, the upcoming digital fashion week will take place from Jan 25-28
Industry insiders are gearing up for yet another series of virtual fashion weeks as Paris Haute Couture Week SS 2021 goes digital amidst growing concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic in France. As the nation grapples with rising cases, a curfew has been implemented from 18:00 – 6:00 to aid in stopping the spread of the virus.
According to WWD, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has advised fashion houses and brands that they won’t be allowed to invite guests this season, and are receiving instructions from police headquarters in regards to updates related to gatherings and events. The fashion news outlet also reports that Jean Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Georges Hobeika and Ralph & Russo have opted out of the schedule, as lockdowns continue to be rolled out across Europe.
While designers and fashion houses won’t be able to show their latest couture collections to a live audience, the shows will be streamed online across various platforms.
How To Stream Paris Haute Couture Week SS 2021
While brands and fashion houses are expected to livestream collections across their own respective social media and/or partnered platforms, The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode will also be livestreaming the shows. This isn’t the first time Paris Haute Couture has gone digital; back in the summer, the haute couture fashion week was a streamed affair as the fédération partnered with Launchmetrics to virtually showcase the brands’ courture collections.
Anyone who wishes to view the show can click the link in the bio of the council’s Instagram account (@fhcm) for more details on how to register.
