5 Of The Most Expensive Face Masks in The World
Want to make an extravagant statement with your PPE? Look no further…
If someone had told us back in 2019 that 2020’s most popular accessory would be face masks (and protective face shields, gloves and hand sanitizer) we wouldn’t have believed them. Now, as we embrace the new norm, covering one’s face has become as much of a fashion statement as the shoes we wear and the handbags we carry.
Masks make a statement and you can tell a lot from the types of PPE individuals choose to sport as they go about their daily activities. From plain blue disposable masks to cute fabric-made reusable ones; aesthetic patterns to colour blocking; and frilly strings to dazzling embellishments, we’ve seen it all when it comes to over-the-top face masks. But if you want to take your pandemic-approved wardrobe to the next level, Bazaar has found the most expensive and luxurious protective face masks money can buy.
The Diamond Studded Mask by Yvel
The diamond embellished mask designed by Yvel is made of 250 grams of 18K gold and set with more than 3,000 natural diamonds with a total weight of approximately 210 carats. It’s also not just for decorative purposes. This mask provides the highest level of filtration (N-99) and meets the most stringent standards to keep the safety of the customer above all. How did it come to be? A special order by a private Chinese billionaire from Shanghai was the reason behind the creation of such an extravagant piece of PPE.
If it wasn’t for its price of $1,500,000 (Approx. Dhs5,500,000), we might actually consider buying it for ourselves…
The Diamond Face Mask by Jacob & Co.
In Rihanna’s song, Diamonds, she sang “shine bright like a diamond.” Truer words have never been spoken after seeing Jacob & Co’s latest face mask. The fine jewellery brand made the Diamond Face Mask with 18K white gold. It is carefully studded with 3,040 brilliant white round-cut diamonds, and this stunning mask is meant to be worn over any other type of protective mask to guarantee protection.
If you’re looking to add a touch of sparkle to your protective face mask, this might be the accessory to get your hands on. As the world’s second most expensive mask, it’s going to hurt your bank account just a little bit. Priced at $250,000 (Approx. Dhs918,300), you can purchase it at the Jacob & Co boutique in The Dubai Mall.
The LV Shield by Louis Vuitton
Not everything is about face masks, and Louis Vuitton wants you to know that! With millions of masks to choose from, visor shields are left aside as a less practical safety measure and more of an aesthetic protective accessory. Louis Vuitton has proven us wrong with its latest product: a standard visor face shield with a twist. The brand has designed it with LV engraved golden studs along with their iconic brown and gold monogram printed on both the trim and head strap.
The French fashion house will debut their LV Shield – a light-sensitive, protective visor – on October 30 in selected Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide. While the brand hasn’t given an official price yet, it’s said that it will be around Dhs3,300, positioning itself along the most expensive PPE’s in the world.
The best part is that the LV shield is just as protective as is stylish. It can even be flipped up and used as a sun visor too!
The Black Crystal Mask by Christian Siriano
Looking at another high-end designer, Christian Siriano has made wonders with 2020’s official staple accessory.
The New York-based designer has presented the world with a bounteous array of beautiful face mask designs, which have been seen in his latest fashion show. From the simplest to the most flamboyant designs, Christian Siriano has come up with a collection that’s to die for and available for all budgets.
But since we’re on the subject of ‘Most Expensive Face Masks’, the spotlight shines bright on the Black Crystal Mask. An elegant, stone-embellished, decorative mask to add a bit of bling to your outfit.
The Black Crystal Mask is available on a made to order basis for $595 (approx. Dhs2,185) at christiansiriano.com. If you’re thinking about getting one you better be quick, as they’re limited.
PS. As it’s ‘decorative’ you need to wear a medical protective facemask underneath for protection. And they have really cute ones available too!
The Pure Silk Mask by Bijan
All expensive facemasks aren’t encrusted with diamonds and gold. For example, the Beverly Hills-based brand Bijan created a pure silk facemask made in Italy.
In elegant black, pearly white and the brand’s iconic yellow, Bijan’s masks are known for being “the most luxurious masks in the world.” Made with the finest pure silk and presented in a glamorous matching box made of silk jacquard, we couldn’t agree more with the product’s description.
The Bijan Pure Silk Mask is available at bijan.com for $480 (Approx. Dhs1,762). If you’re looking to get this glamorous mask you better run, as it’s a limited edition!
