TikTok Makes A Fashion Statement: Live Streaming Shows On the Mobile App is #Trending
BOSS brought the (renewable) energy for their Spring/Summer 2021 show, along with an exclusive invitation-only just a finger tap away…
Whether you have the app downloaded on your phone or not, TikTok has officially entered the fashion stratosphere.
The collaboration signals a changing of the guard as Gen Zer’s and Millennials (the app’s target audiences) are now getting front row coverage in real time–most recently with the beloved German brand, BOSS.

Staged in Palazzo del Senato, in all its Baroque splendor, BOSS had a homecoming of sorts; the brand’s first ever woman’s show was held at the same exact location 20 years prior. The collection was smart and kept its promise in maintaining the lofty level of artistry and craftsmanship for which the brand is known for (a feat not easily reached during such insecure times.) Overall, the palette was soothing–starting in Italian sky blues and ending in caramels, pops of coral and key lime greens. Embroidery featuring botanical forms by London-based artist, William Farr, intermingled within the collection, addressing the fragile relationship between nature and our modern times.

BOSS designer Ingo Wilts, didn’t just talk the talk when it came to keeping within the green theme. As it turns out, the trees bordering the catwalk served a greater purpose than just eye candy: BOSS donated all the greenery to the city of Milan, along with a two year pledge to care for the saplings.

The show itself had limited seating physically, but digitally the invite was only a finger tap away.
TikTokers Bryanboy and Nic Kaufman fed content into the mobile app, showcasing BOSS’ brilliance on screen. A trend we’re seeing more and more it seems. In Paris, Dior plans on following suit, counting itself on the list of TikTok shows to watch. So what does this all mean? Digitally speaking shows are becoming more accessible. What was once an exclusive event is now literally placed in the palm of your hand. As brands jump on the TikTok bandwagon, we can only hope for more designers to keep granting fashion power to the masses.
