When in Rome: Fendi’s Haute Couture AW21 Show Takes Us on a Roman Holiday
Kim Jones’ collection, filled with statuesque silhouettes and subtle embellishments, harkens back to an ancient era…
Kate Moss, creamy couture, and ancient marble escapes–Kim Jones’ Fendi collection is a frothy dreamscape.
Encapsulated in a 8 minute film directed by Luca Guadagnino, we’re treated to a front row seat to Fendi’s prowess in the atelier. Models walk in a trance-like state in various shades of cream, taupes and subtle nudes. The silhouettes themselves are strict and yet there’s an airiness to the collection.
Inspired by Italian director, Pier Paolo Pasolini, you become mesmerized by the soft details. Teeny Roman mosaics step through the haze in the form of jewels and stunning clutches which make a statement all on their own. As the film plays, there’s the startling realization you’re surrounded by some of the most largest names in the modeling industry–like goddesses roaming the mortal realm. Kate Moss, Paulina Porizkova, Christy Turlington, Amber Valletta were all in attendance.
Jones’ collection is a complete dream; one we never want to wake up from.
