Actress Mindy Kaling’s Gaurav Gupta dress will definitely go down in history as one of the most shared looks online from the annual event.
Mindy arrived at the red carpet in a gown with the designer’s signature waves embroidered to create a silhouette he’s most known for. The intricate piece was titled The Melting Flower of Time.
Prabal Gurung
It was a big night for Nepalese-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung as the red carpet was lined with multiple celebrities adorned in his pieces.
Demi Lovato made her return to the annual event after eight years in a dazzling metallic gown, which featured 500 hand-cut mirrored flowers with bejewelled centers. The star rocked a deep side part and glossy hair with the look.
Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club star Gayle Rankin, who just got her first Tony nomination, made her Met Gala debut also wearing a piece by the designer. She opted for a black, beaded gown and also carried a bouquet of roses to compliment her look.
Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Bridgerton in the hit Netflix series Bridgerton, looked stunning in deep blue Prabal Gurung cutout gown reminiscent of an ethereal mermaid.
Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey wore a dainty pastel pink, ruffled, off-the-shoulder number, complete with a singular pink rose in the middle.

Isha Ambani, daughter of Indian philanthropist’s Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, made her grand appearance in a bespoke Rahul Mishra rainbow saree gown.
In an Instagram post, her stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania, wrote about planning the look that embodied the theme perfectly: “Rahul and I set out to depict nature’s glorious and bountiful lifecycle in this custom look for Isha, which took over 10,000 hours to complete.”
