Noor Fares: My Moodboard

The Lebanese-born jewellery designer was inspired by ancient symbols for her latest collection

Mandalas were the starting point for Noor Fares’ new 62-piece jewellery collection Akasha; the Sri Yantra, Flower of Life, Navratna and Inle Amulet from Myanmar are all symbols used for visual meditation. “I was very drawn to mandalas and how they are created using symmetry, sacred geometry and symbols. I love the celebration of colour used within and how, in turn, each of the patterns all fit within a circle to resemble the universe,” Noor tells Bazaar. “I believe that it is through my heritage that I hold jewellery with such importance and view it as having Talismanic properties. I grew up with the eye of protection being so engrained into my way of life that I still carry one and my rings all have a small blue sapphire on the back to resemble the symbol.” The collection plays with different textures, such as bespoke-cut stones hand-carved in India, up-set gemstones and layers of rock crystal and mother of pearl. Noor says she designed the collection for women with a strong sense of style who like to be playful with their accessories, as demonstrated by the icons on her moodboard.
