Syrian Designer Zeina Zain Unveils Her Ramadan Collection

Think modern, yet modest

Inspired by the Islamic era in Spain, Zeina Zain Al Abdeen turned to beautiful draping and elegant silhouettes to create a Ramadan collection of gowns and kaftans for her modern, fashion-forward customer.

“This Ramadan I focused on creating a modest yet contemporary collection inspired by the culture and architecture founded during the Islamic era in Spain, in particular the detailing and elaborate artwork of the Alhambre palace, Granada. I aspired to create conservative yet modern pieces that are perfect for the Zeina Zain woman, who exudes confidence and embodies the spirit of Ramadan. I really enjoyed designing this collection, experimenting with different block colours and geometric shapes to modernize and enhance floor length gowns and kaftans. Being able to create a collection that is casual yet elegant, and perfect for the region is amazing.”

Inspired by Dubai, her home, the Syrian designer also looks to contemporary minimalist references for her collection, keeping her aesthetic equal parts demure, modest and modern. Having began her career in fashion creating custom pieces for family and friends, Syrian-born Zeina was motivated by Dubai’s entrepreneurial spirit to launch a label of her own that expressed her sartorial passions and blended a love for travel and fashion.
