In an immersive and interactive experience, the House of Dior comes to life at the Arts Décoratifs in Paris in a fascinating chronicle of the celebrated designer’s life and legacy in the fashion world. And now, we have the behind the scenes footage, allowing us to step into the world of dazzling couture.
Through a prism of those who have succeeded the illustrious designer: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and the first woman, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the exhibition is a voyage of the unifying threads of emotions, life stories, affinities, inspirations, creations and legacies that culminates in the height of haute couture as it stands today.
From gowns referencing painting and sculpture to everything that makes up the art of living: wallpapers, fabrics and chinoiserie, to illustrations, sketches, documentary photographs, the exhibition reflects the fact that Christian Dior was a seasoned art lover who adored museums.
By exploring the ties he forged between couture and all forms of art, we see that Christian Dior has had an enduring influence across the board.
Designer of Dreams Exhibition runs until 7 January 2018 at Arts Décoratifs in Paris, France. For more information, visit Lesartsdecoratifs.fr/en
