Inspired by Christian Dior's love of going to the Cirque d'Hiver and the unique glamour of the region

Dior brought the circus to Dubai last night, and with it came 15 looks designed exclusively for the region. Under the big top, the fashion set gathered for a theatrical runway show of Maria Grazia Chiuri's spring/summer 2019 haute couture collection - which was transplaned directly from Paris Couture Week, with a few additions unique to the GCC. Consider us ready run away with the circus.

Clearly an homage to Middle Eastern glamour, the exclusive regional looks were particularly glitzy and intricate, from a multi-tiered glitter mini-dress to a shimmering ruffled gown complete with a clown collar. Chiuri played with tent-like silhouettes and golden hardware akin to that of a ringmaster, while beauty aficionado Peter Philipps went mischievous with the dark, dramatic makeup.

The colour palette of the 15 looks flirted with extravagant golds, crimson reds, and more subtle touches of mint green and lilac. Much like the show itself, held inside an eerie but awe-inspiring circus tent, the collection works so well because the innate element of surprise.

Each look was quite *literally* topped with a sparkly cap and face veil, adding a twisted touch rendered throughout the show - but that was just the start of the exquisite detail paid to the Middle Eastern exclusives. We spotted chic bedazzled tights, metallic lace-up boots, and pleated capes that made the collection all that more playful.

The finale highlighted the 15 looks, which were standout on the runway but even more effective as a kaleidoscopic collection, united under the circus lights.
