So, you want to throw a party. Your friends are still reverberating after a slew of Christmas celebrations, and now you’ve got to gear them up to ring in the New Year. Well, who better to take stylish party cues from than fashion’s favourite footwear designer – and ex-DJ – Giuseppe Zanotti? Turns out, a little planning, a good menu and an even better guest list is all you need...

Order of the day…

“If I were to spend New Year’s in Europe, I would rent a suite at Hôtel de Paris in Monte-Carlo; the perfect place to watch the fireworks at midnight. We’d start with an aperitivo and move onto dinner before dancing until midnight. But if I was in Dubai, I’d spend the afternoon on a boat and take advantage of the amazing weather.”

Tipple of choice…

“Once I was at Kanye West’s birthday party and Jay Z was drinking the most amazing spicy virgin mojito. I would try and recreate that with tonic, fresh lime and Mexican chilies.”

On the guest list…

“My dream dinner-party guests would be Janis Joplin, David Bowie, and Marvin Gaye.”

On the playlist…

Ziggy Stardust by David Bowie, plus any songs by Aretha Franklin and Nirvana. I also love jazz, so any songs by Benny Goodman and Billie Holiday. I’ll switch to hip-hop after midnight.”

The theme…

“The ’30s, Charleston period or the Dolce Vita.”

Every party needs a photobooth, so says Giuseppe

The décor…

“Buccellati centerpieces and lots of flowers. The colour red must be featured in some capacity, because it brings good luck.”

The gift bags…

“I would hire a photographer to take black and white pictures all night on a Polaroid camera, which I would put in a gift bag for everyone at the end with a small message written on the back. I would also include a Swarovski crystal star as a reminder of the holiday season.”
